Ha! I musta missed that--what a story!

"Charming Cliff"!!! I knew it, I knew it, I knew it!!!

This most defn needs to be conveyed to skies...

Of course, I can imagine what would've happened if I had been substituted: "...I thought you guys talking about a band was sad! What was with that guy droning on and on about this prime minister and that prime minister, not to mention World War I, and then embarrassing himself with those absolutely pathetic attempts to chat with the waitresses?! How he could stop in mid-sentence to focus on those gals was just awkward...We are NEVER going out in public with him again!"

As the bouddha once said: thousands can believe one thing it dosn't prove it's true ,and if only one believed another thing that never meant it couldn't be true !

Of course, strictly speaking, even without PostModernity, one can never "prove" anything to be true, but frankly, I'll take the word of L's wife over most anybody around here...Along with Arbuthnot, that makes three plus me that find him so...it just all depends on the context...

You know, my wife found your little story about she and amosearle's wife beating us senseless with battery packs, since we would only communicate by keyboards, to be hysterical. Now if I tell her this she will find you to be charming too. I used to think that it would be best to limit her contact with this place because well, i don't think I need to explain. Now I am beginning to believe that she should stay away because she maybe fall under the spell of the Forum Ladies Man......

I think you can rest easy...somehow, whenever I attempt to relay something about this place to the wife, it loses quite a bit in translation...I bet the first instance of your doing so with your wife was pure happenstance and I won't fare so well the next time around.

I will say, though, L--this place is more and more "family like" in that the exchanges over "love and death" reveal our commonalities far more than in the past, it seems to me. Describing such "depth" (if that doesn't sound too corny) to spouses and so on makes alot of sense...I would be both petrified and overwhelmed if we were to ever actually have a Forumite Get-together with EVERYONE here.

I think those two threads are the kind that bring the best out of this place. Interesting discussion about the music where no one is right or wrong. You don't get that from reviewing shows or posting a TDIH. Yes I know that the "love thread" (sounds like something from a Barry White forum, no?) was initiated out of jglynn's TDIH. However it popped up because he was discussing the history of a song and it turned out that the song generated more opinions that one might have anticipated (TLEO? who knew?). This is when this forum works best and one of the reasons that people always come back. I noticed a few names in those threads that we don't see posting that often. Sydthecat2 hasn't been around in long time. Who knows, if we keep it up maybe BryanE will return as well.

That's my underlying personality, it's true...I try to wrap it in bluster and humor, but I have always been the sappiest romantic you can imagine. I think that's how L knew he was right with the Will Rogers comment.

Boy, you really have fallen for the pupster!

Watch out--folks around here feel sorry for me, so they tolerate my slobbering over Miss D (and she's sweet about it too), but this kind of emotional display is generally frowned upon. Can only lead to a fall. At least according to Marty Robbins, one of the biggest Western sentimentalists...

Too funny, i will be laughing about that waitress comment all day.

I don't think I shared this little story about Cliff with the archive before, so that it explains why you missed it. Either that or i posted it on a day when Miss D, dancinbears, Stephanie Brown and Diana Hamilton were all here and you were too distracted.....

The Trifecta plus one!? They were all here at once? Damn, no wonder I don't recall anything about it...I even distracted myself. And now DianaW (any relation to DianaH?)...
